Meeting Info: A Bit of Respect Please (22 Jan)
January 15, 2010 at 7:30 pm | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments OffTags: Colossians, friends, Luke, Psalms, relationships, respect, society
Theme: Respect
Aim: To communicate the importance of respecting each other
Respect is crucial in forming healthy relationships and a helpful attitude towards life in general. Crime, abusive relationships and antisocial behaviour all spring from a lack of respect for other people. It is extremely important that young people learn the value of respect at the stage when their social skills are developing. This meeting seeks to teach that respecting other people is central to building good relationships and a healthy society.

Meeting Info: All I Want (27 Nov)
November 20, 2009 at 6:30 pm | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments OffTags: Christmas, Christmas Tree Festival, expectations, giving, Luke, receiving
Theme: Christmas Expectations
Aim: To show that the most fulfilling part of Christmas isn’t always what you receive; it’s what you can give.
Christmas is a wonderful time. The whole season comes with so much promise. It’s great to get presents and eat nice food but even so, does it ever completely live up to our expectations? Did we get all the presents we wanted? Did we see all the people we wanted to see? Is Christmas pudding as tasty as we remember? In this session we look at how, through other people and the original story, we can change our expectations of Christmas.
We’ll also be preparing decorations during the evening for the annual Christmas Tree Festival at St. Paul’s.
Key Bible Verses: Luke 2
Meeting Info: When You Wish (9 Oct)
October 2, 2009 at 6:30 pm | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments OffTags: achievement, ambitions, dreams, Luke, Philippians, selfishness
Theme: Dreams and Ambitions
Aim: To teach that dreams and ambitions allow us to achieve great things but that our ambition should be honouring to God and show love to others.
We live in a world of contradictions where some people are very focused on achieving and others are completely unengaged. Yet whether we feel able to achieve them or not, we all have dreams and ambitions for ourselves and for those around us. This session has been created to help all of your young people explore how to achieve their ambitions. Be careful however not to fall into the trap that the reality entrepreneurs often slip into, saying ‘to achieve your ambitions you must step on those around you.’ The Bible clearly warns us about selfish ambition and the dangers that are attached to it. So encourage your young people to explore positive ambitions that not only allow themselves to achieve but build up others as well.
Key Bible Verses: Philippians 2:3-4 and 3:13-14, Luke 10:27
