Meeting Info: You Lookin’ At Me? (8th July)

July 1, 2011 at 12:06 pm | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments Off

Theme: Clothes and appearance

Aim: To teach that God accepts us no matter how we look and that we should accept others the same way

This Rock Solid session looks at how we are sometimes
judged by how we look and the importance of being able to be different without
feeling ignored or embarrassed.
Ask someone to take photos of this session, trying to get pictures of all of your
young people, preferably smiling. (Make sure you get permission from parents for
this.) Try to get the photos printed and displayed by the end of the session, or at
least for the next one. Finally, ask all the leaders to wear the same outfit (eg blue
jeans and white t-shirt).

Key Bible Verses: 1 Samuel 16:1-12, Isaiah 53:2-4, Matthew 6:25-33

Meeting Info: They Need You (1st July)

June 24, 2011 at 12:01 pm | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments Off

Theme: Giving

Aim: To encourage the young people to give their time, money and help to those who need it

Everybody needs help sometimes. And those of us who have plenty of
money, time and energy should be ready to share these things with other
people. This session encourages the youth to take charge in helping others rather
than waiting for somebody else or saying no. Be prepared to share stories of what
others have given to help you and how you have helped others.

Key Bible Verses: Deuteronomy 22:1-3, Matthew 25:35-40, Hebrews 13:5-6

Meeting Info: Keep The Faith (24th June)

June 17, 2011 at 11:58 am | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments Off

Theme: Faith

Aim: To understand what faith is and recognise that biblical faith isn’t blind faith

In today’s society it is sometimes difficult to have faith, especially when
what we have faith in is not visible to the rest of the world. In today’s session
we aim to give the young people a better understanding of what faith really is and to
trust God even if it seems crazy to the rest of the world.

Key Bible Verses: Hebrews 11:1

Meeting Info: This Could Get Messy… (17th June)

June 10, 2011 at 7:54 pm | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments Off

Theme: Messy Games

Aim: To have fun and get messy

This session is all about simple, uncomplicated fun and getting messy.
It also looks at how our lives get messy and what God has to say about that.
Do whatever you can to encourage your young people to get involved, even if
they’re initially reluctant to get messy. Make sure that the leaders help in this by
getting involved in the mess themselves. There is a lot of mess involved though, so
warn your young people about this, in advance of the session. It might be advisable
for them to each bring a change of clothes. Due to the mess, it may be a good idea
for some games to be played outside, or at least for the floor to be covered with
newspaper or tarpaulins. Plenty of water and towels will be very helpful for the
young people to clean themselves up.

Key Bible Verses: Psalm 51:1-7

Meeting Info: Questions (10th June)

June 3, 2011 at 11:51 am | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments Off

Theme: Asking Questions

Aim: To become better questioners and to learn to live with unanswered questions

Questioning is a fine way of discovering truth. We should be grateful for
those people who have patiently answered our questions and for those to
whom we can still go with our questions. We should give thanks not just for those who
answer our questions but also for those who question our answers. Young people are
often very good at this. If we welcome their questions and, rather than attempt to
provide glib answers, encourage them to ask more questions, they may well catch on
that questioning is a healthy part of our ongoing search for truth.

Key Bible Verses: Proverbs 9:10; 1 John 4:1

Meeting Info: I Don’t Deserve That! (20th May)

May 13, 2011 at 11:43 am | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments Off

Theme: Grace

Aim: To teach why grace is important and why we should show grace to others

The meeting will explore what grace is, why we should care and how we
can apply it to our lives. Moving on from there, we will investigate Jesus’
example of forgiveness and how this should affect our relationships with people
around us.

Key Bible Verses: Ephesians 2:8-9

Meeting Info: We Are Family (13th May)

May 3, 2011 at 11:32 am | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments Off

Theme: Family

Aim: To give a better understanding of how to deal with family life

Being part of a family is not always a walk in the park. It can get
stressful. Most often arguments occur as a result of communication
breakdown, and in some cases making home life unbearable to live in.
Throughout this session we explore how communication within the family
can help, which enables us not just as a family as a whole but as an individual
to be able to make a difference.

Key Bible Verses: Ephesians 4:31-32, Ephesians 6:1-4

Meeting Info: By The Book (6th May)

April 29, 2011 at 9:01 pm | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments Off

Theme: The Bible

Aim: To encourage your young people to read the Bible

The Bible is a truly amazing book. As we read it, we hear God’s voice and we’re challenged to change and become more like Him.We are passionate about helping young people engage with the Bible and we hope this session with help your young people to do just that.

Key Bible Verses: 2 Timothy 3:16, Matthew 5:17-19

Meeting Info: Spring Special (18th Mar)

March 11, 2011 at 9:01 pm | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments Off

Theme: New Life

Aim: To explore the theme of spring and communicate that Jesus offers us new life

After a long, cold winter, spring comes as a relief. The warmer weather and new life all around us are inspiring and give us hope. Spring, and particularly Easter, also reminds us of the new life we find in Jesus. This Rock Solid session allows your young people some fun around the spring theme, and also encourages them to think about the new life that Jesus offers them.

Key Bible Verses: Luke 24:1-8, Romans 6:1-10

Meeting Info: I Want What You’ve Got! (11th Mar)

March 4, 2011 at 9:01 pm | Posted in Meeting Info | Comments Off

Theme: Jealousy

Aim: To learn to be content with what God has given us and to be willing to give away what we have

We live in a part of the world where so many people are obsessed with consumerism and celebrities. There is a lack of satisfaction and people feel pressurised to always get more ‘stuff,’ whether that’s money, consoles, clothes, etc… This attitude has been passed onto young people and not only do they feel a need to prove themselves by having the newest stuff, they also want to appear popular, so to have the coolest friends, the best part-time job the best family, etc… God hates selfishness and false friendships. God looks at the heart rather than outward appearances. He wants us to be content with what we have and willing to give to others, He wants us to trust in him to meet our needs and love others, rather than envy them.

Key Bible Verse: Hebrews 13:5
